EU–India Trade Pact
News: Alexander Proll has called the EU–India Free Trade Agreement a transformative “win-win” pact that will boost trade, AI cooperation and resilient supply chains.
He described it as the “mother of all deals,” benefiting nearly two billion people and creating one of the world’s largest free trade zones.
The FTA eliminates or reduces tariffs on 96.6% of EU exports to India and 99.5% of Indian exports to the EU by value.
Proll highlighted human-centred AI collaboration as a key future pillar and stressed that mutual economic interdependence strengthens sovereignty.
The agreement now awaits legal vetting and ratification by the European Parliament and Indian authorities before coming into force.
