DP World Launches Double-Stack Rail Services Linking JNPA with NCR and Gujarat

DP World Expands Double-Stack Rail Connectivity

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority

News: DP World has launched two Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) enabled double-stack container rail services from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA).

One, operational since September 2026, connects JNPA with DP World’s inland container depots (ICDs) at Pali/Rewari, Jhattipur-Panipat, and Modinagar in the National Capital Region.

The other links JNPA with ICD Sachana in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The launch follows JNPA’s long-haul double-stack operations on the DFC in August 2026. DP World did not disclose service frequency, transit times, or volumes for either route. Hemant Kumar Ruia, the company’s Country Manager for the Subcontinent (India), called the expansion a step toward better logistics efficiency, and the company says the dedicated infrastructure allows higher speeds and capacity than conventional lines, with potential for shorter port-to-inland turnaround times. Target sectors in the catchment include automotive, engineering, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, textile, and home-furnishing industries.

For exporters and importers in North India and Gujarat, more double-stack rail capacity from JNPA means another option for shifting cargo off congested roads and onto a faster, dedicated rail path, which DP World says can lower logistics costs and reduce reliance on road transport. The company frames this as part of a broader push to connect port operations with inland markets through PM GatiShakti and the National Logistics Policy.
