News: India has welcomed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz following the understanding reached between the United States and Iran, with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval describing the development as a positive step for regional stability, global trade, and energy security.

Speaking at the 16th BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting, Doval said the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would ease supply chain bottlenecks and improve the availability of critical commodities such as fertilisers and chemicals.

He noted that the move is expected to strengthen energy security, restore freedom of navigation, and support smoother global trade flows.

While expressing cautious optimism over the US-Iran understanding, Doval also highlighted broader geopolitical challenges, including military conflicts, cyber threats, disruptive technologies, and evolving security risks that continue to impact global economic and supply chain stabilit
