India Vital to Global Supply Chains and Deserves G7 Inclusion
News: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized India’s critical role in global supply chains and its position as the world’s fifth-largest economy, justifying the invitation extended to PM Narendra Modi for the G7 Summit in Alberta, June 15–17.
Despite political opposition citing the ongoing investigation into the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Carney stated it was inappropriate to comment while the legal process is underway.
He highlighted India’s importance in discussions on energy security, digital infrastructure, and critical minerals.
Carney noted that the invitation was extended after consulting other G7 members and confirmed that India and Canada will continue law enforcement dialogue, underscoring India’s central role in shaping global economic and strategic partnerships.
