India Condemns Attacks on Ships in Hormuz
News: Vikram Doraiswamy reaffirmed India’s stance that attacks on commercial shipping and civilian maritime infrastructure are unacceptable, stressing the need to protect seafarers and ensure freedom of navigation.
Speaking at the 36th Council session of the International Maritime Organization in London, he called for de-escalation through dialogue and highlighted India’s support systems, including a 24×7 helpline and coordination via IFC-IOR.
The IMO condemned threats to vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and urged global coordination to safeguard maritime security.
India, a major seafarer supplier, expressed concern for safety, noting over 650 Indian seafarers currently operating in the region amid ongoing disruptions.
