Flight Cancellations Disrupt Domestic Air Cargo
News: IndiGo has faced large-scale domestic flight cancellations since November 2025 due to the enforcement of DGCA’s stricter Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) Phase II norms, leading to acute crew shortages.
Over 1,200 flights were cancelled in November alone, sharply impacting on-time performance and causing nationwide disruption, including a temporary halt of domestic departures from Delhi airport.
While international cargo operations remain largely unaffected, domestic air cargo—especially pharmaceuticals, vaccines, perishables, and courier shipments—has faced delays, higher costs, and cold-chain challenges.
Shippers have mitigated risks by shifting cargo to other airlines, road transport, and backup logistics partners.
The episode highlights vulnerabilities in domestic air cargo, underscoring the need for diversified carriers, contingency planning, and resilient logistics strategies in India’s aviation ecosystem.
