Deal Adds Long-Haul Capacity Five Times Larger Than Current Fleet
News: Afcom Holdings has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Boeing to acquire up to four 777-8F freighter aircraft. The aircraft are intended for long-haul routes requiring 10 to 12 or more hours of flying, and offer roughly five times the cargo capacity of Afcom’s existing Boeing 737-800 freighters.
No delivery timeline or financial terms were disclosed alongside the announcement. Afcom currently operates a fleet of 737-800 freighters.
The move would give Afcom a materially larger long-haul, wide-body freighter capability, expanding the aircraft types available to Indian and India-linked cargo operators beyond narrow-body and mid-size freighters.
For freight forwarders and shippers relying on air cargo for long-haul, time-sensitive, or high-value shipments, a larger dedicated freighter fleet with wide-body capacity could ease reliance on belly-hold cargo space on passenger flights for long-distance routes.
