Cement Maker's Green Logistics Push Covers Seven States
News: UltraTech Cement plans to grow its electric truck fleet to more than 600 vehicles by December 2026, up from its current fleet of over 850 trucks that combine CNG and electric options.
The company introduced electric trucks in 2024 and has partnered with manufacturers including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, IPLTech, Energy in Motion, and Sany.
The expanded fleet will move approximately 5 million metric tonnes of clinker and materials annually across Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Odisha. UltraTech projects the shift will cut CO2 emissions by more than 117,000 tonnes a year and displace around 39 million litres of diesel consumption annually.
The commitment is among the larger captive electric trucking programmes announced by an Indian manufacturer to date, and points to growing adoption of electric heavy commercial vehicles for inbound raw material and outbound finished goods movement in cement and building materials logistics.
