India, US Unveil New Framework for Critical Supplies; G4 Countries Join Initiative
News: India and the US signed a new framework on Tuesday to strengthen cooperation in critical minerals and rare-earth supply chains, aiming to secure stable supplies and reduce dependence on China.
The agreement was signed by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during Jaishankar’s four-day visit.
At the same time, the Quad nations India, United States, Japan, and Australia agreed on a Critical Minerals Initiative framework to boost cooperation across mining, processing, recycling, and supply chain development.
The Quad plans to mobilize up to $20 billion from government and private-sector sources to strengthen critical mineral supply chains. The agreement supports the vision outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump during their February 2025 meeting.
