India’s Logistics Costs Fall Under 8%
News: The Economic Survey 2025–26 highlights a major payoff from India’s infrastructure push, with logistics costs falling to 7.97% of GDP in FY24, down from 8.84% in FY23 and over 13% for much of the previous decade.
Citing a joint study by DPIIT and NCAER, the Survey calls this a structural break that boosts manufacturing competitiveness and export potential.
The gains are attributed to coordinated initiatives such as Dedicated Freight Corridors, Bharatmala, Sagarmala, and especially PM GatiShakti, which integrates planning across ministries through a unified data platform.
With wide central and state adoption, the shift reflects a move from isolated asset creation to system-level infrastructure development.
