India Growth Will Shape Global Supply Chains
News: Kumar Mangalam Birla said India’s rising economic weight will fundamentally reshape global supply chains over the next decade, moving beyond marginal shifts to influence how supply chains are designed.
Speaking at the ICAI World Forum of Accountants, he said global manufacturing is transitioning from a single hub to a dual centre of gravity—India and China.
With global value chains in flux, tariff escalation alone reshaped over $400 billion in trade flows in 2025.
Birla noted companies now prioritise resilience alongside efficiency, favouring economies that can absorb shocks and manage risks.
India’s large domestic market, deepening industrial base, expanding workforce, and improving infrastructure make it a credible manufacturing alternative. What began as a “China plus one” strategy is evolving into a durable, India-centric shift.
