Trump Warns India May Face 25% Tariffs
News: President Donald Trump stated the U.S. may impose a 25% tariff on Indian imports as an August 1 negotiation deadline approaches.
While speaking to reporters, Trump confirmed the potential rate but noted that no final decision has been made.
This comes ahead of the reactivation of country-specific tariffs, which were paused in April after initially imposing a 26% duty on Indian goods.
India, which exported $87 billion worth of goods to the U.S. last year, has yet to reach a tariff agreement with Washington, unlike several other nations. The U.S. plans to send final tariff confirmation letters this week.
