Maharashtra Plans Asia Largest Logistics Hub
News: Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant announced that Bhiwandi has the potential to become Asia’s largest logistics hub, with a dedicated committee to be formed to explore the idea.
Bhiwandi East MLA Rais Shaikh, who raised the demand, will be part of the committee along with officials from the industries and urban development departments.
Bhiwandi, already home to major e-commerce warehouses, spans 144 sq km and holds strategic value. Shaikh urged for an IAS officer’s appointment and action against illegal land encroachments worth ₹3,000 crore, citing Bhiwandi’s key role in Maharashtra’s $1 trillion economy goal.
