India and Australia Boost Uranium Trade
News: India and Australia have strengthened their strategic partnership by finalising the administrative framework for Australian uranium exports to India while expanding cooperation in energy trade and resilient supply chains.
The agreement was announced following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The two countries committed to enhancing energy security through greater trade in uranium, liquefied natural gas, liquid fuels, and renewable energy while supporting uninterrupted energy flows. They also agreed to accelerate negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), strengthen resilient supply chains for emerging industries, and promote investment across the energy value chain. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to open markets, rules-based trade, and Indo-Pacific cooperation amid geopolitical uncertainties. In addition, they pledged deeper collaboration on maritime security, clean energy, defence, and regional economic resilience.
