Flipkart Expands Festive Last-Mile Network
News: Flipkart is creating more than 250,000 direct and indirect jobs for the festive season, including around 75,000 roles for first-time workers.
Last-mile delivery positions account for roughly 60% of the new hiring, close to 140,000 roles, as the company scales its Ekart network to more than 7,000 facilities including fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and delivery stations.
The company has added over 900 new delivery hubs ahead of Big Billion Days, reflecting rising demand from Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets and supporting the expansion of Flipkart Minutes, its quick-commerce arm. Flipkart Supply Chain Operations Academy has issued close to 10,000 certifications ahead of the season, and the company said women now make up more than 20% of its supply-chain workforce.
For 3PL operators, staffing agencies, and last-mile delivery partners, the scale of this hiring and hub expansion signals the size of festive-season capacity India’s largest e-commerce platforms are now building, and the growing share of that demand shifting to smaller towns.
