West Asia Crisis May Hit India

News: Rajesh Agrawal warned that prolonged West Asia conflict could impact India’s exports beyond the region, as supply chain disruptions ripple globally.

About 12–13% of India’s exports go to West Asia, making it a key market. He noted recent impacts on both imports and exports, especially due to energy dependencies.

The government is working to minimise disruptions by diversifying import sources and strengthening supply chains, while preparing for short-term trade declines.

The pharma sector is already facing issues in sourcing intermediates and solvents. Agrawal added that even if the conflict ends soon, effects could persist for months or years. The focus remains on building resilience and self-reliance to manage future external shocks.
