India Ramps Up Fertiliser Imports
News: India is increasing fertiliser imports from multiple global suppliers and closely monitoring shipments to ensure timely availability for the kharif season. The government assured that adequate stocks are in place despite global supply chain disruptions linked to West Asia tensions.
At a high-level review, authorities prioritised gas supply to the fertiliser sector while tracking global LNG markets to prevent production disruptions.
Strong buffer stocks, supported by advance procurement and lower off-season demand, have strengthened supply readiness. As of March 6, fertiliser reserves stood at 177.31 lakh metric tonnes, up 36.5% year-on-year, ensuring stable supply and distribution for farmers.
