Rare Earth Export Restrictions from China Strain India
News: The government informed the Lok Sabha that China’s restrictions on exporting rare earth magnets have created supply chain bottlenecks, affecting Indian industries, including EV manufacturers.
Minister Prasada said the Mines Ministry is actively working to build resilience in critical mineral supply chains through regular consultations with stakeholders.
To diversify sources, India has signed bilateral agreements with countries such as Australia, Argentina, Zambia, Peru, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, and Côte d’Ivoire, as well as with organizations like the International Energy Agency.
These steps aim to reduce dependency on China and secure essential resources for India’s industrial and energy needs.
