Integrated Logistics Plan Launched in 8 Cities
News: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched integrated logistics initiatives in eight cities to reduce business transaction costs and strengthen supply chains.
The pilot will assess infrastructure gaps and expand nationwide. He also released a comprehensive HSN code guidebook covering 12,167 codes across 31 ministries to streamline policymaking and trade.
Other rollouts included the upgraded Logistics Data Bank (LDB) 2.0 for real-time shipment tracking, the LEADS index to benchmark state-level logistics performance, and a new framework to estimate logistics costs.
For the first time, costs were scientifically pegged at 7.97% of GDP, lower than earlier 13–14% estimates.
The study by NCAER highlights multi-modal transport’s role in efficiency, reinforcing India’s push to become a global logistics hub.
