Air India Receives GDP Certification for Pharma Cargo

News: Air India has received the prestigious Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certification for its cargo operations, becoming the first and only Indian airline—and one of the few in Asia—to achieve this global standard for pharmaceutical logistics.

The certification validates Air India’s capabilities in safely handling, storing, and transporting temperature-sensitive pharma products.

In FY 2024–25, the airline moved over 4,000 tons of pharma cargo globally. GDP-certified hubs include Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and key global cities like New York, London, and Frankfurt.

Initiatives include partnerships with certified operators, use of temperature-controlled containers, IATA TCR training, and cold chain tools like cool dollies and thermal blankets.

This milestone strengthens Air India’s leadership in pharma logistics and supports India’s position in global pharma trade.
