India to Join US-Led Global AI Initiative
News: India is set to be invited next month to join a new US-led initiative focused on securing global AI supply chains, according to US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor.
The initiative, called Pax Silica, was launched by the United States to counter China’s growing dominance in AI-related components and technologies. It currently includes key allies such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and Israel.
Despite recent strains in bilateral ties following the US imposition of 50% tariffs on Indian imports over Russia-related oil purchases, both sides remain engaged in trade negotiations.
Ambassador Gor described India as an essential partner and stressed the need for early collaboration in emerging technologies. He expressed confidence that differences would be resolved, citing strong leadership-level ties between the two
