Green Warehousing on the Rise in India

News: India’s warehousing sector is undergoing a green transformation, driven by rising demand from multinational companies focused on ESG and Net Zero goals.

According to JLL, green-certified warehouse space in India is expected to quadruple to 270 million sq ft by 2030. Institutional-grade warehousing has already tripled since 2019, with 72% of the 90 million sq ft either certified green or in the process.

Institutional investors and developers are prioritizing standards like LEED, IGBC, and GRIHA to attract global tenants.

With 260 million sq ft in the pipeline—80% expected to be green-compliant—India’s warehousing market is aligning with global sustainability benchmarks and adapting to future occupier demands for eco-friendly, energy-efficient logistics infrastructure.
