Maharashtra Greenlights 120-km Expressway from Mumbai to Vadhvan Port

120-km Expressway from Mumbai to Vadhvan Port

News: The Maharashtra government has approved a major 120-km coastal expressway connecting South Mumbai to Vadhvan Port, marking a major boost for regional mobility and the upcoming deep-sea port.

The project’s centrepiece is the 24.35-km Uttan–Virar Sea Link, set to become India’s longest sea bridge, featuring six lanes, emergency lanes, navigational spans and an advanced Intelligent Transport System.

The expressway aims to cut travel time, reduce emissions and open new opportunities for housing, tourism and port-led economic activity across Uttan–Bhayandar, Vasai and Virar.

Integrated with major expressways and coastal corridors, the Mumbai–Vadhvan Expressway Corridor (MVEC) is expected to ease pressure on existing routes and create a seamless high-speed network for both passenger and freight movement.
