Blue Dart Explores Namo Bharat Parcel Rail Link
News: Blue Dart Express and NCRTC have signed a memorandum of understanding to study moving express parcels on the 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat regional rail corridor.
The assessment will cover parcel volumes, station facilities, service standards, and commercial arrangements, with any actual service subject to operational feasibility and terms agreed between the two organisations.
The corridor connects to major transport hubs, including Sarai Kale Khan station, linked to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station and an inter-state bus terminal, and Anand Vihar station, linked to Anand Vihar railway station and two inter-state bus terminals. Blue Dart’s managing director said combining the semi-high-speed rail line with its existing pickup and delivery network could add value for businesses and support more sustainable logistics, while NCRTC’s managing director said the collaboration could also explore how the corridor serves the wider freight ecosystem.
For logistics operators in the National Capital Region, a working rail-parcel link on Namo Bharat would offer a faster, less road-congested option for moving express shipments between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, though this remains a feasibility study rather than a committed service for now.
