Assam Plans Rupsi Airport Logistics Hub
News: Assam is exploring plans to transform Rupsi Airport into a major logistics hub to strengthen regional trade, connectivity, and economic growth under the Centre’s Act East policy.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the airport’s strategic location near Bangladesh, West Bengal, and the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), making it a strong candidate for logistics infrastructure development.
Discussions during his recent visit to New Delhi focused on enhancing the airport’s logistics capabilities and evaluating future expansion opportunities. Rupsi Airport’s connectivity through Guwahati and its quick access to the Siliguri Corridor further enhance its potential as a trade and cargo gateway. The proposed project aims to improve connectivity across Northeast India while supporting broader economic integration with eastern and neighboring regions.
