Global Oil Supply Chains Under Stress

News: Global oil supply chains are under severe stress as geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz disrupt shipping and drive costs higher.

Tanker rates have hit record levels, with shipments from the US to Asia costing over $29 million, nearly 20% of oil prices.

Crude prices have surged, with WTI near $79 and Brent above $80, while fuel prices are rising sharply.

The crisis stems from slowed tanker traffic, rising insurance costs and rerouting due to conflict in the Middle East. Over 150 vessels have been delayed or diverted.

Combined with OPEC+ production cuts, these disruptions are tightening global supply. Asian economies, heavily reliant on Gulf oil, face the highest risk as supply uncertainty continues to push energy markets into volatility.
