West Asia Crisis: Govt Eases Rules for Exporters

Govt Eases Rules for Exporters

News: The government has granted relief to exporters facing disruptions from the West Asia crisis by extending export obligation (EO) deadlines.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade announced that EO periods under Advance Authorisation and EPCG schemes expiring between March 1 and May 31, 2026, are automatically extended to August 31, 2026 without any fee.

The move addresses challenges such as shipping delays, higher freight rates and rising insurance costs caused by geopolitical tensions.

Exporters had sought this relief as global supply chain disruptions impacted operations and competitiveness. No separate application is required to avail the extension, and compliance will be verified later. The measure aims to provide flexibility and protect India’s export performance amid ongoing global trade uncertainties.
