Indian Oil and Akasa Air Explore SAF Supply

News:Indian Oil Corporation has signed a Letter of Intent with Akasa Air to explore the future supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), signalling a push toward decarbonising India’s rapidly expanding aviation sector.

Signed at Wings India 2026 in Hyderabad, the agreement sets a framework to support Akasa Air’s sustainability goals as pressure grows on airlines to cut carbon emissions.

While SAF adoption in India remains nascent, both companies see early partnerships as vital to building supply chains and reducing costs over time.

Under the collaboration, Indian Oil and Akasa Air will assess potential SAF volumes, delivery locations, timelines, and approved feedstocks aligned with global standards.

SAF is widely viewed as a key near-term solution for lowering lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions and advancing aviation’s path to net-zero.
