Assam Approves New Logistics Policy
News: The Assam government has approved the Assam Logistics and Warehousing Policy, 2025, positioning the state as a key logistics hub in the Northeast.
Cleared at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the policy aims to strengthen logistics infrastructure, improve supply chain efficiency, and attract private investment.
Key measures include developing integrated logistics parks and modern warehousing zones, expanding multimodal connectivity across road, rail, air, and waterways, simplifying approvals through single-window clearances, and offering incentives for cold chains and distribution networks.
The initiative supports sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and exports, while leveraging Assam’s role as a gateway to neighbouring countries. The government expects faster cargo movement, lower logistics costs, increased investment, and job creation, reinforcing Assam’s regional trade hub ambitions.
